Charter of the Cultural Property Advisory Committee. The Committee was established by the Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act of 1983, 19 U.S.C. 2601 et seq., to provide recommendations regarding requests for assistance from foreign governments under the UNESCO 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing. This policy brief proposes that ratifying the 2001 Convention could provide the UK with an opportunity to influence the evolution of good practice in the management of underwater cultural heritage (UCH) internationally, to deploy and develop the acknowledged world-class expertise of UK professionals in UCH, and to broaden opportunities for these professionals to apply and share their skills.
